Historic preservation meeting scheduled

The History Colorado State Historical Fund outreach team will be traveling across the state this summer to give presentations on grant opportunities for local historic preservation projects.

These Community Roundtable events will be open to the public and will help potential applicants prepare to apply for historic preservation grants.

There will be a Community Roundtable event in Durango at 10 a.m. June 29 at the San Juan Public Lands Center.

The next application deadline is Oct. 1.

The State Historical Fund’s competitive grant application is online only, and it will be live on Aug. 15.

Whether applicants have applied before or are new to the process, the Community Roundtables will provide helpful tips about the new online application, answer questions and give guidance for preparing a competitive application.

For more information about the Community Roundtable event or to RSVP for a session, contact Preservation Grants Outreach Specialist Stefanie Baltzell at stefanie.baltzell@state.co.us or (303) 866-3493.

Learn salsa dancing at Bayfield library

The tagline for this year’s summer reading program at the Pine River Library is “Exercise Your Mind: READ,” so the library is sticking with that theme by offering a series of fitness-related classes for adults throughout the summer.

Attendees can learn the basic salsa dancing steps from 6-8 p.m. June 30.

The course will be taught by local salsero Kenny Monger.

Space is limited, so people should call the library at 884-2222, ext. 510, or come in to register for the class before it fills up.
