Ski, snowboard film to be screened

Sweetgrass Productions’ will present “Valhalla” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Smiley Building Auditorium, 1309 East Third Ave.

“Valhalla,” Sweetgrass Productions’ fourth feature film, is the tale of one man’s search to rediscover the freedom of his youth.

The film weaves narrative-driven style with backcountry ski and snowboard cinematography. Sweetgrass Productions LLC is a Colorado-based film company rooted in winter backcountry and mountain culture.

Tickets are $11 each in advance, $15 the day of show and are available at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/473916 or the at theater box office.

Medicinal mushrooms to be discussed

A free medicinal mushrooms class will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Osadha Herbal Wellness, 15 minutes from downtown Durango.

There is a suggested optional $10 donation. Participants will explore the world of medicinal mushrooms, some of which grow in Colorado.

Kiwanis Club to meet Thursday

The Kiwanis Club of Durango will meet at noon Thursday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

Judy Michalski, president-elect will be installed as the new club president for 2013-14. Pat Barrett will be the treasurer, and Sweetie Marbury will be the secretary. A Lusche Fellow Award will be presented to a member.
