Maundy Thursday Service to be held

First United Methodist Church of Durango, 2917 Aspen Drive, will hold a Maundy Thursday Service depicting the scene from Leonardo de Vinci’s painting, “The Last Supper,” when Jesus reveals to his disciples that one of them will betray him, at 7 p.m. Thursday.

One by one the cast will speak his mind in light of the words that Jesus has just spoken.

Life-Long lecture series continues

The Life-Long Learning Lecture Series at Fort Lewis College will present “The Unintended Consequences of War” at 7 p.m. Thursday in Room 130, in Noble Hall at Fort Lewis College.

“The Trojan Women: A Love Story,” by Charles Mee, opens April 1 at FLC. This adaptation of a Greek play about the aftermath of war, incorporates parts of the contemporary world. Learn about the Greek original and the American interpretation from guest director Melissa Firlit and senior Travis Pina.

High Noon Rotary Club to meet Thursday

The Durango High Noon Rotary Club will meet from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.

The cost for lunch is $15. Allison Morrissey, La Plata County treasurer, will speak about property taxes.

PBS series to be screened

Rocky Mountain PBS, The Mesa Verde Foundation and Fort Lewis College will sponsor viewings of the new PBS series, “Heart of the World,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Sunflower Theater, 8 E. Main St. in Cortez, and 7 p.m. Thursday in Room 130 of the FLC Chemistry Building.

The series is a journey through Colorado’s parks. Director Chris Wheeler and Mesa Verde National Park Superintendent Cliff Spencer will be at both screenings. Admission is free.
