Chimney Rock National Monument will open for the 2016 season on Sunday. The site is accessible for guided walking tours at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
During peak season, from July 1 to Aug. 15, four daily tours will be offered. The Audio Kiva tour is available between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. and includes a pre-recorded audio commentary that gives in-depth information about the structures viewed and the people who lived there.
The cost of either tour is $12 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12, and children 5 and younger are free.

The Colorado Federation of Republican Women District will present “Engage to Win,” a communications workshop offered by Melanie Sturm from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at The Strater Hotel in Durango.
Cost is $40 per person which includes lunch and workshop materials. Engage to Win is a program Sturm co-founded in 2013. She shares her lessons on how to find common ground and agreement especially on the hot-button issues. Engage to Win will inform, inspire and motivate you to be more persuasive. Five Rivers Trout Unlimited members appreciation party will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Edgemont Picnic Grounds.
The free event will be a get-together of food, fly-casting, and friendship in celebration of Five Rivers Trout Unlimited membership.
The Bureau of Reclamation is contracting with Weeminuche Construction Authority, a Ute Mountain Ute Tribe construction firm, for surveying and construction of the Lake Nighthorse boat inspection and decontamination station. Survey work and construction will begin this month.
The station will be located off County Road 210 at the entrance of the Lake Nighthorse Recreation Area. The purpose of the station is to prevent aquatic invasive species from being introduced into Lake Nighthorse. The public is invited to a free workshop, “Meet the Labyrinth: A Walk for Mind, Body, and Spirit,” from 8:30 a.m. to noon May 21 in Conference Room A at Mercy Regional Medical Center. The workshop will be taught by Luri Owen of Durango, who is a Veriditas-trained labyrinth facilitator. Veriditas is a San-Francisco-based nonprofit that supports labyrinth education throughout the world.
The workshop will include walks of Mercy’s 11-circuit outdoor labyrinth, and a presentation on labyrinth history, contemporary uses, personal experiences with labyrinths, and how to include labyrinths in a personal spiritual practice.

The workshop is sponsored by the hospital’s Compassionate Culture Initiatives, which offers mind-body-spirit wellness practices for hospital staff and the community.
