Residents invited to divorce seminar

A free “Doing Your Own Divorce and/or Custody in Colorado” seminar will take place at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

The seminar will be presented by a volunteer attorney from Southwest Bar Volunteer Legal Aid.

Community Cinema concludes season

Rocky Mountain PBS will present “Limited Partnership,” the finale of the Community Cinema season Tuesday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

As the Supreme Court considers same-sex marriage, join Danny Quinlan of Compañeros and the Durango Community Relations Commission in the free preview of Independent Lens’ “Limited Partnership.” A story of immigration and marriage equality that began 40 years ago in Boulder with a county clerk. Doors will open at 7 p.m.

‘Bear Dance’ focus at Bayfield library

Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive in Bayfield, will present “Awakening of Life: The Bear Dance Explained” at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Participants will hear from Russell Box, Sr., a Southern Ute tribal elder.

Health-insurance counseling available

Southern Ute Community Action Programs’ Ignacio Senior Center offers State Health Insurance Assistance Program Counseling. The program is called SHIP.

Program counselors help local elders interpret and sign-up for Medicare Part D. The Ignacio Senior Center service area includes the town of Ignacio, the Southern Ute Reservation and Arboles. The center is at 15345 Colorado Highway 172 in Ignacio. Hot meals are served at the center Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and Meals on Wheels are available five days a week.

Writers, scribblers to meet in Durango

Writers and Scribblers will meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Pine River Valley Bank, 1701 Main Ave.

“Twelve Traits of Bestselling Books” will be presented by Melissa Stacy. Guests are welcome.
