‘Festival of Trees’ will be this weekend

“Festival of Trees,” Community Connections’ annual holiday event, will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Train Museum, 479 Main Ave.

Library store features many Christmas books

The Friends of the Durango Public Library Bookstore has a large supply of Christmas-themed books, for both children and adults.

Many leather-bound classics are $5. All these Christmas specials and more are in pristine, like-new condition.

The bookstore is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Wednesday; from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; and from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Board of directors to meet Wednesday

A board of directors meeting for Community Connections Inc., will take place from 3:15 to 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Lupine Conference Room at CCI, 281 Sawyer Drive, Suite 200.

Ornament sales to benefit education

Throughout December, Sticks & Stones Handmade, 734 Main Ave., will donate the proceeds from the sale of ornaments created by local artists to the Durango Education Foundation, to benefit the foundation’s arts education program.

Owned by Mickie and Tim Hassemer, the boutique specializes in local art and gifts that are affordable and expertly crafted.

Bake sale to benefit Manna Soup Kitchen

The Fort Lewis College Department of Sociology will host a bake sale supporting Manna Soup Kitchen from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Student Union.

Everything will be sold for $1. Donations will be accepted as well. This event is being put on by 10 sociology students, who are hoping to bring attention to the issue of hunger and homelessness within Durango. All proceeds will go directly to Manna Soup Kitchen.

Southern Ute Museum to host gift shop sale

The Southern Ute Museum Gift Shop will host a sale on Dec. 5, 12 and 19 at 503 Ouray Drive in Ignacio.

Discounts of 10 percent will be offered on purchases up to $75, and discounts of 20 percent will be offered on purchases of more than $75.
