Citizen input sought by transportation group

The Transportation Legislation Review Committee will host a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Program Room 2 of the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

General assembly members of the committee will host the meetings, and citizens are encouraged to provide input on regional transportation needs and priorities.

Peer-facilitated youth group to talk issues

High school students are invited to be part of a new peer-facilitated youth group.

Members will be trained in small-group facilitation and related skills, and the group will meet weekly to talk about issues that they choose.

Golf tournament will benefit nonprofits

Colors for Cancer: An Autumn Golf Tournament will take place Thursday at the Glacier Club.

The tournament will benefit Mercy Health Foundation and Mercy Cancer Services. A shotgun start will take place at noon. Participants will play 18 holes of golf. A BBQ buffet and after-round reception will also be available.

Growing medicinal herbs to be discussed

Herbalist Marija Helt will teach the class, “Easy-to-grow medicinal herbs for fall planting,” from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 29 in Durango.

Participants will learn some of the most medicinally versatile plants for starting in autumn; delve into their medicinal activities, growing conditions and harvesting information; and learn how to choose plants for available space as well as for health needs. There is a suggested donation of $20.

Water Authority hosts celebration of water

La Plata West Water Authority will host an open house and celebration of water for the community at 3 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Breen Community Building, 15300 Colorado Highway 140 in Hesperus.

A free meal will be served at 5:30 p.m., with dancing to local bands starting at 7 p.m.

Free class available to people with pain

A free class for people with neck pain, numbness, headaches and shoulder issues will take place from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Thursday at the Self Heal Center, 635 E. Fifth Ave.

Participants will learn five easy-to-learn, do-it-yourself tips to save time and money on doctor bills for chronic pain. The class will be led by chiropractor and yoga and rehab specialist Keneen Hope McNiven. The class size is limited to 10.

High Noon Rotary Club to meet Thursday

The Durango High Noon Rotary Club will meet from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino Del Rio.

The cost for lunch is $15.
