Archaeological event to be held

The Cortez Cultural Center, 25 N. Market St., will present the archaeological presentation, “How Traditional Navajo People See Their Cultural Affiliation to the Anasazi of the Four Corner Region,” at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 10.

William B. Tsosie Jr. will give the presentation. Tsosie works for the Navajo Nation Archaeology Department in the Shiprock, New Mexico, office as an archaeologist and ethnographer.

Turtle Lake Refuge to host programs

Turtle Lake Refuge will host these programs:

“Free Yoga for Organic Parks” will be lead by Lily Russo from 1 to 2 p.m. Dec. 10 at Riverview Elementary School Park. Participants should bring warm outdoor yoga clothes.

A free bird walk lead by Kristi Dranginis to celebrate the organic parks in Durango will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 13 at the organic Needham Elementary school park.

Applications sought for garden program

The Old Fort Market Garden Incubator program is accepting applications for the 2015 growing season.

The incubator program in Hesperus offers an alternative point of entry for beginning farmers and provides them with access to support services to enable them to develop the skills necessary to succeed. Successful applicants will receive winter training, hands-on instruction, access to land, water and equipment.

Completed applications are due at 5 p.m. Dec. 12. For more information, call 385-4574.

Ignacio library to screen two movies

The Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave., will screen “The Goonies” and “Treasure Hunt” from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 13.
