The Kiwanis Club will welcome Kip Turner, aviation director of the Durango-La Plata County Airport, to its meeting at noon Thursday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.
Turner will speak about the upcoming plans and issues concerning the airport. Guests are welcome.
The Life-Long Learning Lecture Series at Fort Lewis College will present “Is the Forest Dying? ‘Spruce’ Up Your Knowledge” at 7 p.m. Thursday in Room 130 of Noble Hall.
Cara Gildar and Travis Bruch will discuss forest issues, tree biology and ecology, Forest Service policies and practices of spruce-fir forests, and how the public can become better educated and involved.

Former Colorado Supreme Court Justice Greg Hobbs, along with former Colorado Water Conservation board director and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation deputy Commissioner Bill McDonald, will review the evolution of water management from the legal, state and federal perspectives at the Southwestern Water Conservation District’s annual Water Seminar on Friday.
