Rotarians hear about public health in Nepal

Marla Luckey will speak to the Rotary Club of Durango at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave., about her experiences providing public health education in rural Nepal.

Last fall, Luckey traveled to Nepal with the Bhotia Foundation where she helped guide women’s health education training in seven remote villages near Chyamtang, Nepal.

She worked in several developing countries to improve nutrition, water, sanitation and overall health in rural communities. Holding a bachelor’s degree in dietetics from the University of Illinois and a masters in public health from the University of Michigan, Luckey is a program and nonprofit evaluation consultant. Visitors are welcome.

Free legal clinic available in Igancio

A free legal clinic for parties who have no attorney will be offered from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on the second Friday of each month at the Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave. in Ignacio.

By computer link, volunteer attorneys will answer questions, help fill out forms and explain the process and procedure for civil litigation, including family law, property law, probate law, collections, appeals, landlord-tenant law, small claims, veterans issues and civil protection orders.

Photo sessions to benefit nonprofit

Kelly Miranda Photography will host Mother’s Day Mini Sessions for Charity on April 9-10 at Maria’s Bookshop, 960 Main Ave.

Parents can register their child for a 20-minute portrait session. Moms will also be given a gift from Maria’s Bookshop. The session fee is $100 and will be donated in full to La Plata Family Centers Coaltion, an organization dedicated to providing direct support to local families in need.

Specially priced print collections will be offered exclusively to Mother’s Day Mini Session participants. Participants must register in advance with Kelly Miranda Photography by calling 946-7279 or emailing info@kellymirandaphotography.com.
