Music festival coming to Three Springs

The Three Springs Neighborhood and Mercy Regional Medical Center will celebrate their 10-year anniversary with a music festival from 1-7 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, at Three Springs Plaza in Durango.

Carute Roma, The Afrobeatniks and headliner Matt Hires of Nashville, Tennessee, will be taking the stage, plus plenty of food, beverages and family fun. Children 10 and under get in free, and kids born at Mercy from 2006 to 2016 will get a free gift and a chance to be onstage during the Hokey Pokey with Carute Roma.

Tickets are $10 and available at threespringsdurango.com, the Three Springs Information Center, Southwest Sound, and at the venue entrance on the day of the event.

Come learn about worm composting

There will be a vermicomposting workshop from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Ohana Kuleana Community Garden, located on East 30th Street near Riverview Elementary School.

Vermicomposting means worm composting, the process of letting worms break down material to turn it into a nutrient-rich, micro-organism-filled compost.

This hands-on workshop will explore the benefits of worm castings (yes, that means worm poop) to the plants in your garden, and it will also teach you how to set up a vermicompost system.

This workshop is provided for farmers, landowners, backyard and community gardeners and the general public. You must register in advance for the workshop at http://bit.ly/25PK2wL.
