Enjoy Saturday breakfast in Marvel

Marvel Grange is hosting a free community breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Marvel Grange Hall, 217 County Road 133A, Marvel.

Pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, juice and coffee will be served.

Poetry Night Friday at Mancos Library

The Mancos Public Library will host a Poetry Open Mic Night at 6:30 p.m. Friday for all ages to celebrate National Poetry Month.

Local poets David Feela and Tim Kercher will serve as hosts. Registration is not required, and sign-up is upon arrival.

Performances are limited to 5 minutes. Poetry selections will be available for those who become suddenly inspired to step up to the mic.

The library is located at 211 West First Street in Mancos.

Support the troops on Red Shirt Fridays

Local veterans organizations are asking businesses in Durango to show their support for our troops by giving a 5 percent or 10 percent discount to those who wear a red shirt into their businesses on Fridays.

The red shirt reads: “Home of the Free because of the Brave.”

You’re invited to a big yard sale in Ignacio

The public is invited to come shop at the Yard Sale Extravaganza from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in Ignacio.

More than 10 booths will have items for sale at the ELHI (Education, Literacy, Health, Inspiration Community Center) parking lot, 115 Ute St., in Ignacio.

Gem Club celebrates Mother’s Day

To celebrate Mother’s Day, 4 Corners Rock and Gem club members will sell their handcrafted and locally made wares from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the clubhouse in the 2300 block of Main Street behind Brookside Motel.

This nonprofit organization offers the region’s only open art studio fully equipped with stone cutting, silversmith and jewelry-making equipment.
