Book tree to benefit children in District 9-R
Maria’s Bookshop in partnership with the Durango Education Foundation and Durango School District 9-R will offer a book tree to benefit children in 9-R.
The tree will be located near the children’s section of the store and will be decorated with angel ornaments, each with a brief description of a child’s reading level and preferences.
With the help of a bookseller, shoppers can choose and purchase a suitable book at a 15 percent discount. The book will be gift-wrapped and delivered to the student. This program runs until Christmas.
Maria’s is located at 960 Main Ave. For more information, call 247-1438 or visit www.DurangoEducationFoundation.org.
Pathways’ students to offer gift-wrapping
Pathways to Independence, a Durango School District 9-R Program for students 18 to 21 that are transitioning from high school into an independent life, will provide gift-wrapping through Friday.
Pathways will accept donations to raise money for Adaptive Skiing. People should bring gifts to the Commons Building, 701 Camino del Rio, Room 315 – and the students will wrap the gifts within a day or two.
