‘New’ Aztec history to be discussed

The Crow Canyon Archaeological Center will host a talk by Erin Baxter at 7 p.m. Tuesday at 23390 Road K in Cortez.

Baxter’s talk is titled “A New Archaeological History of Aztec Ruins: Excavating the Archives.”

Baxter, the 2015-16 Florence C. and Robert H. Lister Fellow, will present findings from her dissertation about Aztec West. Her research focused on “re-excavating” museum collections, including notes, maps and a photographic record that included more than 1,200 previously unpublished images. The photos show Earl Morris’ excavations of 173 rooms at the Aztec West great house.

For more information, call 565-8975.
