DUI enforcement period begins for fall
The Colorado Department of Transportation’s Fall Festivals DUI-enforcement period will take place through Oct. 26.
CDOT will work with the Colorado State Patrol and local law-enforcement agencies.

Diversity group invites all to join partnership
Adults of all ages, including college students, are invited to join the Embracing Diversity Initiative, a youth-adult partnership with Durango High School’s Prejudice Elimination Action Team.
The mission of the group is to increase cultural appreciation and understanding in the community through trained youth-adult partner coaches who facilitate diversity and cultural competency workshops for community businesses and organizations. Training is provided for volunteers through the Anti-Defamation League. The group meets from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at Durango High School in Room W2105, 2390 Main Ave. The first meeting of the school year will be Thursday.

Rotary Club holds membership event
The Rotary Club of Durango will host a membership event featuring local historian Duane Smith at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.
People interested in learning about the local and international Rotary service organizations and have given thought to serving the community through joining the Rotary Club of Durango are invited. Smith will share with the audience some of the more colorful events in the history of the area in the entertaining and engaging way that he was known for in the classroom. Visitors are welcome.

Nature Studies hosts online auction
Durango Nature Studies is holding it’s online auction fundraiser.
More than 150 items donated by local businesses and individuals will be up for auction. In addition to restaurant gift certificates, sports activities, overnight stays and more, visitors can find offerings such as personalized bird walks, private snowboard lessons, private nature walks and fly fishing lessons, all donated by Nature Studies board members.
