Leadership La Plata will host an information session about its program from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 11 at Mercy Regional Medical Center’s Animas Room.
Alumni of the program will be available to answer questions over appetizers and information will be provided.
Leadership La Plata is seeking the most dynamic class of diverse individuals to participate. The program began in 1988 and has more than 400 graduates.

The Old Fort Farm Stand will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the Fort Lewis College Student Union. It will be outside if the weather permits.
This week at the farm stand there will be: greens (an assortment of spinach, arugula, kale, chard and mixed greens), radishes, Yukon gold potatoes, dryland pinto beans, arugula pesto, basil pesto, beet hummus, zucchini bread, pumpkin chipper bread, grass-fed beef and local pork.
Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted. Free parking is back for the summer.
Mercy Nutrition Therapy and The Garden Project of Southwest Colorado invite the public to attend “Square Foot Gardening,” a free educational workshop, at 5:30 p.m. May 11 at the Ohana Kuleana Community Garden, 564 E. 30th St., in Durango.
The Garden Project’s Garden coordinator, Brooke Frazer, will provide hands-on training to help prepare, plant and grow your own small-space garden. She will discuss key gardening elements, such as soil health, seed selection, garden design and climate information.

The Colorado Federation of Republican Women District will present “Engage to Win,” a communications workshop offered by Melanie Sturm from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 14 at the Strater Hotel in Durango.
Cost is $40, and it includes lunch and workshop materials. “Engage to Win” is a program Sturm cofounded in 2013. She shares her lessons on how to find common ground and agreement, especially on the hot-button issues. The workshop will inform, inspire and motivate you to be more persuasive.

Mulch Madness will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Three Springs.
Phoenix Recycling will be giving away free mulch, and it will assist event attendees with loading the mulch.
In addition to Mulch Madness, Three Springs will be holding free movie nights and outdoor concerts again this summer. Many other events will also be offered to commemorate its 10th anniversary.
