Archaeologists will gather Thursday

The San Juan Basin Archaeological Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Lyceum at the Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College. Speaker Julie Orr will present “New Caledonia and its Archaeology.” Her work on New Caledonia was spurred by trips to Panama, where she was introduced to the 1698 Scottish attempt to establish a colony there. That research exposed her to a different type of archaeology than what she experienced in the Southwest. All are invited at 6:30 p.m. for a pre-meeting social. For more information, visit sjbas.org.
