Residents urged to complete bear survey

Residents of Durango and La Plata County who have not filled out a bear survey they received earlier this year are asked to complete the questionnaire.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife recently sent another copy to those who have not returned the survey.

The survey is part of an ongoing research project that is examining the bear population in Colorado and the attitudes of residents toward the animals. Surveys must be received by May 20.

Tour Balcony House at sunrise Saturday

Mesa Verde National Park will offer a Sunrise Tour of Balcony House cliff dwelling Saturday.

Tickets are available only at www.recreation.gov. The tour will last about 90 minutes and is limited to 25 people. Cost is $15 per person. Meeting time, location and additional details are available on the website

Additional tours will be offered June 20, June 21, Sept. 21, Sept. 22 and Oct. 10.

Legal seminar offers divorce education

Doing your own divorce and/or custody in Colorado will be the topic of a seminar at 5:30 p.m. Monday presented by Southwest Bar Volunteer Legal Aid at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Learn to become a storytime storyteller

Pine River Library will host “Storytime Skillz” training on storytime methods Tuesday.

Graduates can volunteer as a storytime substitute or an outreach storytime volunteer. The training will be run twice, from 10-11:30 a.m. (with child care available) and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. RSVP for child care.
