DHS chorale group set to sing to Rotary Club

A small choral group from Durango High School will sing at the meeting of the Rotary Club of Durango at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.

Students will perform music of the season. Visitors are welcome.

Talk Tuesday on food sensitivities, sinusitis

Caleb Gates, licensed acupuncturist, will discuss “Resolving Food Sensitivities and Sinusitis” using Advanced Allergy Therapeutics, a safe, noninvasive treatment to resolve allergy symptoms.

The presentation will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Durango Public Library in Room 1, 1900 East Third Ave.

Planning Department to discuss new tool

In an effort to streamline the application process and shorten overall processing time for projects, the La Plata County Planning Department has developed a Feasibility Evaluation Tool.

This tool is designed to provide guidance to applicants in gathering project information prior to putting together a permit application. By using the tool, applicants should spend less time and money on land-use proposals, and processing by the Planning Department will be expedited.

An informational meeting officially introducing this new process will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday in the County Administration Building Training Room, 1101 East Second Ave.

Healing back, hip pain to be discussed

A free introductory lecture and demonstration on healing back and hip pain, numbness and sciatica will take place from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Thursday in Studio 10 of the Smiley Building, 1309 East Third Ave.

Participants will learn do-it-yourself solutions for relief, and learn how Keneen Hope McNiven avoided hip surgery. The process is based on an empowerment model that teaches self-care. McNiven is a chiropractor, rehab specialist and yoga therapy educator. Preregistration is needed.

Dinner to benefit children’s home

A buffet dinner benefiting the Mitrata Children’s Home will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Himalayan Kitchen, 992 Main Ave.

Suggested donations are $45 per person in advance and $50 at the door. All funds raised will go to the Mitrata Children’s Home in Kathmandu. Contributions provide a safe home environment, medical care, school tuition and cultural classes in arts, music and dance.

St. Columba to host Christmas Bazaar

St. Columba Parish will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 1801 East Third Ave.

Crafters will sell homemade, handcrafted goods, including stained glass, jewelry, quilts and wreaths. St. Columba youth will sell breakfast burritos, chili, hot dogs and other snacks throughout the day. Proceeds will benefit St. Columba Youth Ministry.
