Stillwater Music’s beginning and intermediate vocal ensemble classes begin Sept. 6.
The beginning Pop Cappella class focuses on singing unaccompanied rounds, simple melodies, two-part harmonies and partner songs.
The class will also focus on beginning vocal technique and solfége. Students must be able to sing independently, in tune and to sing melodic lines by ear. The intermediate vox harmonix class focuses on singing unaccompanied contemporary and classic songs in multi-part harmony.

Durango will host the 10th annual Water 101 Workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 22 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave. A new Water 202 pilot session will also be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 23.
Provided by the Water Information Program, the workshops feature several speakers, including retired Colorado Supreme Court Justice Gregory Hobbs, as well as representatives from federal, state and local agencies.
Topics will include water law, an overview of water-related agencies and organizations and discussion of timely water issues. The 202 session provides more in-depth information on water law, including compacts and the water court process.
The registration fees are $50 for both sessions, $35 for Water 101 and $25 for Water 202. Snacks are included, and lunch is provided for Water 101. Space is limited. Sign up at www.waterinfo.org or call 247-1302.
Purgatory Resort is celebrating the one year anniversary of the Divinity Flow Trail, Durango’s only lift-served downhill flow trail, at the Mountain Bike Festival and Downhill Flow Trail Race on Sept. 10 at Purgatory Resort.
Check-in will be 9-11 a.m. at Purgy’s, open practice on the flow trail is slated for 9 to 11:30 a.m. and the race is scheduled for noon.
In addition to the race, there will be a social group ride from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the World’s course and other singletrack trails.
The entry fee is $10, or free with the purchase of an uplift ticket for $15 or a full-day uplift pass for $40.
