Ignacio’s library is the place to be

The Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave., will offer these programs:

The Tween After School program will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. every Wednesday. Programs will include mini golf on Wednesday; Science Fun: Build a catapult, make goo and more on Sept. 9; ParaCord Crafts on Sept. 16; Cooking Class on Sept. 23; and Game Day: Board Games on Sept. 30.

MakerSpace Skill sessions will take place at 3 p.m. every Monday and at 1 p.m. every Saturday. Sessions will include Piñata Making, Part 1 on Sept. 5; Piñata Making, Part 2 on Sept. 12; Tin Can Lanterns on Sept. 14 (registration is needed); Traditional Bow Making Basics on Sept. 19; Minecraft Origami on Sept. 21; Traditional Arrow Making on Sept. 26; and 3D Printing on Sept. 28. There will be no MakerSpace Skill Session on Sept. 7 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

The following computer classes will be offered at 5:30 p.m.: Find A Job (With Help From the Internet) on Sept. 8; Windows 10 Overview on Sept. 15; and Google Drive on Sept. 22. All classes require sign-up.

Turkey, New Zealand focus of Rotary

The Durango High Noon Rotary will meet from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.

The cost for lunch is $15. The club will hear from Boyd Matheson and Martin Thompson, participants in the Rotary Youth Exchange, about Turkey and New Zealand.

Workforce board to meet Sept. 9

The Southwest Colorado Workforce Board will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 9 at Southwest Colorado Community College West Site, 33057 U.S. Highway 160, Mancos.

Agenda items include general Workforce Board business to include the new Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act requirements.

DHS Class of 1965 to host reunion

The Durango High School Class of 1965 will hold its 50th reunion Sept. 11-12.

The class will welcome classmates from 1965 as well as those from 1964 and 1966 to celebrate with them from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday downstairs at the Durango Elks Lodge, 901 East Second Ave.

The class of 1965 will hold a rededication of the refurbished Buckley Monument at 10 a.m. Saturday at the north end of Buckley Park.

A dinner celebration will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday downstairs at the Elks.

Lunch, networking offered to builders

Durango Wood Company will host an open house and free barbecue from noon to 3 p.m. Friday at 577 County Road 233.

This will be an opportunity to network for builders, architects and trade specialists.
