Dance for fitness at Bayfield library
A fitness dance party will take place from 8 to 8:45 a.m. every Tuesday and Friday morning at the Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive. This class is open to the public with donations to the instructor encouraged.

Nature Studies to offer training
Durango Nature Studies will hold its spring Volunteer Naturalist Training for its school environmental education programs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. March 16 at La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave., and from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 18-19 at the Durango Nature Center, 1309 East Third Ave. No. 27.
Participants can become a fully qualified volunteer naturalist, ready to lead science-based, hikes for children in K, first, third, and eighth grades. Volunteers will receive a detailed manual as part of the training. School programs will take place at the Durango Nature Center. No previous experience is necessary. Becoming a volunteer naturalist is a great way to spend time outdoors, learn the natural history of the area, meet like-minded people, and gain experience teaching. Participants should ask about our Fort Lewis College internship credit.

Get your business update at Rotary Club
Tim Walsworth, executive director of the Durango Business Improvement District, will speak to the Rotary Club of Durango at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, Main Ave. 699.
BID’s mission is to market, promote and advocate for property and business owners in the downtown and on north Main Avenue. Walsworth’s talk will focus on BID’s current programs including Character District Assessments for north Main Avenue and Camino del Rio, parking in downtown, and efforts to curb panhandling.

Garden club meets every third Tuesday

AARP to hear about wealth management
Durango AARP Chapter No. 1243 will hold its meeting at 10 a.m. March 15 at the La Plata Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave.
A presentation by “Scholfield Wealth Management” titled “Solving the Social Security Puzzle” will be offered. It is about various Social Security claiming strategies to maximize a person’s total benefits. Interested members of the community are invited to attend especially those retiring in the near future.

Parkinson’s group to hear about fitness
The Parkinson’s Education and Support Group meets the third Thursday of each month. The next meeting is from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive. The guest speaker will be Don Roberts, owner of 24/7 Fitness.
