The Rocky Mountain Area Coordination Center encourages everyone to be careful with all combustible materials to prevent human-caused fires during the high-risk summer season.
Before heading outdoors, be sure to “know before you go!” Public land management agencies may impose fire restrictions to reduce the risk of human-caused fires during periods of high fire danger.
Visit www.rmacc.info for more information on fire restrictions within the Rocky Mountain area. Here are some safety practices for use with campfires:
If campfires are allowed, be sure to keep them small and clear of surrounding vegetation.Keep a shovel and water nearby at all times to extinguish the fire.Feel for any heat using the back of your hand to be sure the fire is extinguished. The use of fireworks on federal lands is always prohibited.
Fire information for the Rocky Mountain Area is available online, by phone at (303) 445-4322, and by email at rmaccinformation@gmail.com.
