The #Lovelightlegacy will sponsor a benefit for Marla Phillips to help defray costs of chemotherapy treatments.
The cancer benefit will be held from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave. All proceeds will be applied directly to her medical bills. Many artists have donated time to come play, sing, rap and perform for the public. The tickets are $30.
Items will be raffled off to event ticket holders. The event is sponsored by AT&T, Griegos, The Boarding Haus, Allen Theaters, Cindi Sheridan Massage Therapy, the city of Durango Community Recreation Center, The LifeAsArtMovement, The Bookcase and Barber and jhandoe.com.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife will open its Wildlife Museum on Friday for summer operations.
Admission is free but donations are accepted. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
The co-located Durango Fish Hatchery, Main Avenue and 16th Street, has opened several raceways for public viewing and feeding of rainbow trout. Tours for larger groups are available.
