La Plata Youth Services, the Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition, and the Southwest Center for Independence will meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Monday at La Plata County Fairgrounds to discuss creating an alliance for teens and young adults who have disabilities, are people of color, are homeless or low income, LGBT, or for anyone who cares about people in the above groups.
The goal of the proposed group is to work together to make the community a better, more inclusive place. If there is interest, the group will be provided with leadership training and connections with other advocacy groups around the state and country.

Dr. Irene Aguilar will discuss Amendment 69 (Colorado Care) ballot initiative from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 1 at a public meeting at Durango Public Library.
If voters approve the measure, Colorado Care will provide universal health care coverage to all residents of Colorado. It would be partly funded through an additional 10 percent income tax – two-thirds paid by employers and one-third by employees from payroll income – providing approximately $25 billion per year in revenue for funding.
