Overdose awareness event scheduled

An

EMT’s will be available to discuss Naloxone, CPR and to discuss recognizing signs of an overdose.

Attendees are encouraged to walk the Animas River Trail after the information session.

The event will honor those lost to overdoses. Willing participants may bring a photo of a loved one to share their stories. Silver ribbons will be available.

Paws for a Cause part of AIDS benefit

The Four Corners Alliance for Diversity is sponsoring a Paws for a Cause family fun run and walk including dogs at 9 a.m. Sept. 10 at Rotary Park on the Animas River Trail.

The event will be part of the 19th annual AIDS Benefit.

Games for kids and prizes for participants and dogs will be available.

Informational and educational booths also will be provided.

On-site registration for the run and walk begins at 8:30 a.m.

Clinic targets those without lawyers

Free legal clinics for parties with no attorney will be offered from 3:30 to 5 p.m. the second Friday of each month, beginning Sept. 9 at Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave., Ignacio.

Volunteer attorneys will answer questions by computer link and explain processes and procedures of civil litigation, including family, property, probate, collections, appeals, landlord-tenant, veterans’ issues, protection orders and small claims law.

Call 563-9287 to sign up. Registration is first come, first-served.
