Children, teenager choruses seek singers

Children, from 7 to 12, and teenagers, from 12 to 17, are invited to join Durango Children’s Chorale and Durango Youth Chorus under Artistic Director and Conductor Amy Barrett.

The Durango Children’s Chorale will rehearse from 4 to 5 p.m. each Tuesday, and the Durango Youth Chorus will rehearse from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Rehearsals will be at St. Mark’s Church, 910 East Third Ave., beginning Aug. 30.

Auditions will be held from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Thursday and from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 29 at St. Mark’s Church.

Talk examines carbon storage via grazing

David James of James Ranch will discuss the role of proper grazing management and its ability to store carbon at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Animas Valley Grange Hall, 7271 County Road 203.

The short film “Soil Carbon Cowboys,” part of Arizona State University’s Carbon Nation Conversations, will also be shown.

With a background in business economics, James has followed holistic management practices during his 54 years in agriculture and ranching, including grass-fed cattle ranching and the New Ranch movement.

Refreshments will be provided.
