The Southwest Rural Philanthropy Days Interim Committee will hold an intensive, three-part training on best practices for nonprofit board members from 4-6 p.m. Sept. 4, Oct. 12 and Nov. 9.

The training sessions will be facilitated by Illene Roggensack.

The Pine River Community Garden Club will hold its second annual Zucchini Extravaganza from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Pine River Library in Bayfield.

Residents are invited to bring a zucchini or squash dish to share and enter in contests for best appetizer, main course or dessert. Pumpkins are not allowed.

The free event will feature live music from The Cannondolls, a raffle drawing, recipe exchange and children’s events. A celebrity chef iron cook-off is also planned.
