Home Builders to offer courses
The Home Builders Association of Southwest Colorado will offer EPA Lead-Safe initial and refresher courses from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday at the La Plata Electric Association’s Training Room, 45 Stewart St.
These courses are for certification or recertification of being lead-safe. Cost of the classes: $200 for the initial class, $125 for the refresher class.

Fundraiser set to support artist
A fundraiser for mosaic artist Mary Anne Griffin and partner Chuck Wales, who lost their barn to a fire, will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ska Brewing Company, 225 Girard St.
The band The Assortment will perform and a silent auction/sale will take place. Anyone wishing to donate items or services for the auction should call 769-1836 or bring to Toh-Atin Gallery, 145 West Ninth St. A fund for Griffin and Wales has also been established at the Bank of the San Juans.
Talk held by tribe Boys and Girls Club
Cassandra Sanchez, program coordinator, and Augusta Burch, program specialist, will hold a presentation about the Boys & Girls Club of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe during the dinner meeting of the Rotary Club of Durango at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.

Mesa Verde to offer free moonlight hike
Park rangers will lead a moonlight-guided hike focusing on what night and darkness means to humans and animals at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Mesa Verde National Park.
The guided hike is free, but advance sign-up is requested. Children should be at least 7 years old to join the hike. Participants will meet at the Morefield Village parking lot and then explore the hillsides around the Morefield Campground, learning about how darkness affects animals and humans, including adaptations, circadian rhythms and other processes.
Participants should be prepared to be outdoors for two to three hours, with extra layers of clothing, water and snacks. There is a limit of 20 adults and children. If needed, snowshoes will be provided or participants may bring their own.

Registration for water seminar open
The annual water seminar will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 1 at the Doubletree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.
