Beginning May 9, BP will conduct aerial surveys of all company-owned pipelines in La Plata County and the western edge of Archuleta County. Surveys also will be conducted in San Juan County, N.M., and Rio Arriba County, N.M.
BP is surveying to ensure the integrity and proper functioning of pipelines and assets. Helicopters will conduct the surveys, and it will take about two to three weeks to complete the work, depending on weather conditions.
Activity will occur between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day. Average flying altitude will be about 200 feet. The crews are familiar with wildlife and livestock concerns, as well as the importance of minimizing disturbance to residents.
