Fall music classes set at Stillwater Music

Registration for Stillwater Music’s 2016 fall music program is now open for children and adults of all ages, experienced or not.

Classes for children include introductory percussion; beginning steel drum band; multiple combo bands for beginning, intermediate and advanced students; intermediate a cappella vocal ensemble; and a new beginning a cappella vocal ensemble.

Classes for adults include bands focusing on a variety of genres, including classic rock, soul, pop, funk, jazz, blues, Americana and a cappella vocals. There is also a band for beginner adult players as well as a community samba band.

Learn food frugality at Ignacio Library

The Ignacio Community Library will host Wendy Rice of the La Plata County Extension Office for a presentation on various ways to save money on food.

The workshop will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at the library, located at 470 Goddard Ave. in Ignacio.

The presentation will include several methods of preserving food before it goes bad, with demonstrations of canning, vacuum sealing and dehydrating.
