Durango Food Bank seeks board members

The Durango Food Bank is looking for individuals interested in joining the board of directors.

Positions will be available starting in February.

Pet-loss seminar to be held Tuesday

Dr. Dan Parkinson of TenderHeart Pet Hospice will present a seminar for people who are dealing with the loss of a pet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

The purpose of this program is to provide information and support for people who are grieving and people who are interested in learning more about coping with pet loss. Parkinson will give insights into the end-of-life process, why pet loss hurts so bad and suggestions for dealing with pet loss. Discussion and refreshments will follow.

Water district meeting will be on Monday

The La Plata Conservation District’s annual meeting will take place at 4 p.m. Monday at 841 East Second Ave.

Guest speaker Bruce Whitehead, executive director of the Southwestern Water Conservation District, will discuss the newly finalized Colorado Water Plan and its local impacts. Following Whitehead’s remarks, the district will hold a board meeting and provide a community update on 2015 activities. Light refreshments will be provided.

Ignacio author speaks at community’s library

The Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave., will host a book-signing with Joseph Rael at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Southern Ute Tribal member Joseph Rael will read from his latest book, Being & Vibration: Entering the New World. This is Rael’s 10th published book. He will be available to sign copies of the book.
