The Rotary Club of Durango will hold a meeting and host a guest speaker at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.
Guinn Unger, volunteer chairperson for the ColoradoCare initiative in La Plata County, will give information on Amendment 69, the single-payer health care proposal for Colorado residents on the upcoming November ballot. The program would be funded through an additional 10 percent income tax, while eliminating current employer and employee health insurance premiums.
Unger is a Bayfield resident, former business owner and retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel. Visitors are welcome.

Mercy Nutrition Therapy, The Garden Project of Southwest Colorado and Cooking Matters will hold a free workshop called “Preparing Healthy, Affordable Lunches for All Ages” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Needham Elementary School, 2425 West Third Ave.
Attendees will receive hands-on training on how to incorporate healthy, affordable lunches into their daily lives. Cooking Matters will lead a pop-up grocery store tour, followed by a cooking demonstration. Seating is limited.
