Prostate cancer group to meet

The Man to Man Prostate Cancer Support Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the upstairs meeting room of the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

The guest speaker will be Jenny Treanor, a licensed professional counselor who specializes in coping methods for dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer and recommending resources in the Durango community.

Treanor will discuss the grief process and mindfulness as part of healing.

Latino Americans focus of library series

“The Latino Americans: 500 Years of History” film series will continue with episodes scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5, Feb. 19 and March 4 at the Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive, Bayfield.

This award-winning series chronicles Latinos in the U.S. from the 16th century to present day.

Also, the library will continue the Mesa de Charla community potluck and discussion series from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. All ages are welcome.

Participants should bring their favorite dish to share.

Square dancing at the senior center

The Live Lively Square Dance group will offer a program for new dancers from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Durango/La Plata Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave.

Rotary Club to hear from county treasurer

Allison Morrissey, La Plata County treasurer, will talk about the county’s tax collection process at the Rotary Club of Durango at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.

She will highlight the costs of this process, what she has done to reduce these costs and how taxpayers can help to reduce them even more.
