Babysitter training class will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 26 to 27 for Bayfield-area teens. The cost is $40, and scholarships are available. Tours begin at 9:30 a.m. in the library lobby. Learn about plants for home landscape that are water-wise and beautiful, as well as plants that attract bees and other pollinators. See the new Crevice Garden and learn about the five other gardens that will be installed around the library.
Tours are free and last about 45 minutes. Tours for groups may be scheduled for other times by calling 769-3091.
Being Bear Smart will be the topic at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Animas Valley Grange Hall, 7271 County Road 203, just north of Durango.
This topic will be presented by Bryan Peterson, director of Bear Smart. The talk will be about being more bear smart in lands we share with them.
Peterson will give a demonstration of installing an electric fence around a chicken coop on May 21. Meet at the grange hall at 9 a.m. to carpool to the site.
The grange is sponsoring a series of informative talks by various local experts, and the talks will occur once each month. Refreshments will be provided.
