Local food advocate speaking at Bayfield library

Katrina Blair, founder of Turtle Lake Refuge, will give an “Amazing Authors” presentation from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Pine River Library.

Blair started to study wild plants in her teens, received an undergraduate degree from Colorado College, received a master’s degree in holistic health education from John F. Kennedy University and founded Turtle Lake Refuge in 1998. She is the author of “The Wild Edible and Medicinal Plants of the San Juan Mountains,” “Local Wild Life – Turtle Lake Refuge’s Recipes for Living Deep” and “The Wild Wisdom of Weeds: 13 Essential Plants for Human Survival.”

The event will include a lecture, wild food tasting and question-and-answer session. Attendees will be able to sample amaranth flax seed crackers with dandelion pesto and wild berry cobbler.
