The first week of April is here and with it comes another busy week of local sports. As spring continues, high school and college athletes are hoping that the weather continues to get warmer. Golf, track and field, softball, tennis and soccer are all in action this week. Here are all the local sports events this upcoming week:

Fort Lewis College track and field:

The Skyhawks are coming off a strong showing at CSU Pueblo’s Chuck Haering Invitational, headlined by sophomore Zach Gaumont breaking school records in the 100 meters and the 200. They head to Grand Junction Thursday and Friday for Colorado Mesa University’s Maverick Invitational, which begins at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday with an evening session and noon on Friday.

Fort Lewis College women’s golf:

The FLC women’s golf team will head to Goodyear, Arizona, for the Ruidoso Junior Golf Association’s Palm Valley Classic on Friday and Saturday. Their last two tournaments have seen the Skyhawks finish in the middle of the field, with a fifth out of 12 finish at Southwest Minnesota State University Challenge and a sixth out of 13 finish at the Southern Colorado Open, hosted by CSU Pueblo.

Fort Lewis College men’s golf:

The FLC men will also head to the Palm Valley Classic and will compete on Monday and Tuesday. They’re headed back to Goodyear, Arizona, after competing at The Stack Cougar-Burro Collegiate last week, finishing fifth out of 14.

Fort Lewis College women’s lacrosse:

FLC at Regis University on Friday at 6 p.m.

Records: The FLC women come into their matchup with Regis hoping to break a six-game losing streak that has them sitting at 1-10 overall and 0-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Regis has won four in a row, bringing a 6-4 overall record and a 4-1 RMAC record into the game.

Fort Lewis College softball:

FLC vs. Colorado Mesa University on Saturday at noon and 2 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Records: After starting the season 2-22, the FLC women are 6-2 in their last eight games, sitting at 8-24 overall and 7-20 in the RMAC. They hope to continue that momentum in their home series against Colorado Mesa. The Mavericks bring a 25-9 overall record and a 23-5 RMAC record into the series.
