There have been high school postseason events going on over the last month, but this week really feels like it’s playoff time.

All of the high school sports regular seasons are over. The best local high school sports teams are still playing and hope achieve postseason glory before their seniors depart for their next chapters of their lives.

Up at Fort Lewis College, volleyball and football still have multiple regular season games left, while men’s soccer, women’s soccer have one regular season game left and their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournaments will start this weekend.

There will be plenty of regular and postseason home games this week, so it’s a great time to see some action before it’s too late. Here’s the local sports schedule for the upcoming week:

FLC sports:

Wednesday: Men’s soccer at Adams State at noon

Notes: The Skyhawks men’s soccer team had a huge loss for their postseason prospects on Sunday. FLC had a chance at a top-two seed in the RMAC tournament, but it lost 3-1 on Sunday at Regis. The loss dropped the Skyhawks to 8-4-4 overall and 4-3-2 in the RMAC and Regis improved to 7-5-4 overall and 5-2-2 in the RMAC.

As of Tuesday afternoon, FLC is seventh in the RMAC standings and the men’s RMAC tournament is made up of the top six teams. Luckily for FLC, it plays the worst team in the conference for its final game at Adams State. The Grizzlies are 1-14-1 overall and 0-9 in the RMAC.

If FLC wins, it will still need CSU Pueblo to lose against UCCS in those teams’ regular-season finale on Wednesday. If that happens, FLC will most likely be playing on the road in the RMAC tournament.

Women’s soccer at Western Colorado at 3 p.m.

Notes: FLC’s women’s soccer team has had a much better finish to the season than the men’s team. The Skyhawks finished their regular season home schedule on Sunday with a 3-0 win against MSU Denver. The win extended FLC’s unbeaten streak to eight games and FLC finished the regular season undefeated at home and did not allow a goal at home in the regular season.

FLC is third in the RMAC at 7-2-1 and is 10-4-2 overall. The Skyhawks finish their regular season at Western Colorado. The Mountaineers are 2-12-4 overall and 2-5-4 in the RMAC. If FLC wins, it will secure the No. 3 seed in the RMAC tournament.

Friday: Volleyball vs. No. 12 MSU Dever at 6 p.m.

Notes: FLC had an unsuccessful power pod at home with two losses against top RMAC teams last weekend. The tough schedule continues on Friday with a home match against MSU Denver. The Roadrunners are 19-3 overall, 9-1 in the RMAC and have won 10 consecutive matches. The Skyhawks are 14-7 overall and 8-2 in the RMAC.

Last season, MSU Denver beat FLC, 3-0, in Durango.

Saturday: Women’s cross country at NCAA South Central Regional Championships in Pueblo at Pueblo Country Club at 10 a.m.

Men’s cross country at NCAA South Central Regional Championships in Pueblo at Pueblo Country Club at 11:15 a.m.

Football at New Mexico Highlands at 1 p.m.

Notes: The Skyhawks won their first RMAC game of the year on Saturday with their 44-24 win over winless Adams State. FLC improved to 2-7 overall and 1-6 in the RMAC.

FLC will have a tougher test against New Mexico Highlands. The Cowboys are 5-4 overall and 3-4 in the RMAC. The Skyhawks did have a good game against New Mexico Highlands last year and won at home 44-22.

Volleyball vs. UCCS at 4 p.m.

Notes: These two teams played recently in Durango, with UCCS beating FLC, 3-0, on Thursday. It was the first time FLC was swept this season.

Sunday: Women’s soccer at home vs. TBD in RMAC tournament

Notes: The women’s soccer team has secured at home RMAC tournament playoff game as a top-four seed. FLC’s opponent hasn’t been determined yet, but the game will likely be at 1 p.m., according to FLC Athletics.

Possible game: men’s soccer in RMAC tournament

Notes: If all goes well, the men’s soccer team will make the RMAC tournament. If FLC does make it, it will likely be on the road for its quarterfinal matchup.
