This week and the next week of local sports will be two of the hardest weeks for local winter sports athletes in their seasons.
Finals and end of semester assignments are coming up for Fort Lewis College students. They’re so close to having a nice break for the holidays and seeing family for the first time in a while. Local high school athletes are also very close to a nice break from school and games with the holiday season on the horizon.
However, these athletes can’t lose focus now. FLC’s basketball teams have important Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games and some more elite non-conference matchups. Local high school teams are still early in their seasons with some non-league tournaments coming up before they get into league play.
Local high school teams are very busy with plenty of games the next seven days. A highlight on the schedule for the Durango High School basketball teams is the Marv Sanders Invitational in Farmington starting on Thursday.
