Local sports schedule for upcoming week

FLC track and field at national championships; Durango boys lax at home

Now that both Fort Lewis College basketball teams’ seasons are over, nearly all the winter sports are over, and fans’ attention and excitement can turn toward local spring teams

On the high school side of the local sports section, all winter sports are over after Bayfield High School boys basketball’s overtime loss in the state playoffs on Friday night. It’s time to have all eyes on local spring sports.

Durango boys lacrosse has its home opener on Thursday. Bayfield will host Durango, Ignacio and some other local schools at the Pine River Invitational on Friday. Durango baseball will begin its season on Thursday.

FLC’s indoor track and field team will be traveling all the way to Virginia Beach to compete at the Division II national championships. Softball and women’s lacrosse will try to improve on some tough starts to their seasons.

Here’s the local sports schedule for the upcoming week:

FLC sports:

Friday: Men’s, women’s track and field at the 2026 Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Notes: Senior Brady Burrough will represent the Skyhawks on the men’s side. Senior Hannah Hartwell, freshman Eliana Angelino, senior Alliyah Molina, sophomore Janaya Mancell and freshman Caroline Laughlin will represent FLC on the women’s side.

Saturday: Men’s, women’s track and field at the 2026 Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Softball vs. University of Colorado Colorado Springs at noon

Notes: The Skyhawks softball team will look to snap a 19-game losing streak on Saturday against UCCS. FLC’s latest four losses were on Sunday and Monday to Colorado Christian.

FLC was blown out in two games, getting mercy-ruled 11-1 on Sunday and 13-13 on Monday. The closest game was a 6-3 loss on Monday to finish the series. Those losses dropped the Skyhawks to 1-21 overall and 0-12 in the RMAC.

UCCS enters the series 11-10 overall and 5-7 in the RMAC. The Mountain Lions went 3-1 against Chadron State on Saturday and Sunday.

Women’s lacrosse vs. CSU Pueblo at 1 p.m.

Notes: The Skyhawks are 0-2 overall after their 15-2 loss to McKendree University in Pueblo on Tuesday. CSU Pueblo is 2-2 overall.

Softball vs. UCCS at 2 p.m.

Sunday: Softball vs. UCCS at 11 a.m.

Softball vs. UCCS at 1 p.m.

Monday: Women’s golf at Dallas Baptist University’s Patriot Invitational in Carmel, California

Men’s golf at Washburn University’s Washburn Invitational in Topeka, Kansas

Tuesday: Women’s golf at Dallas Baptist University’s Patriot Invitational in Carmel, California

Men’s golf at Washburn University’s Washburn Invitational in Topeka, Kansas
