Ignacio High School is sending seven students to the Skills USA state contest on April 18-20 in Colorado Springs.
Taking district titles at Durango High School on Feb. 23 were Randy Leach in welding and Mitchell Neil in welding sculpture. Second-place awards went to Skylee Clark for CPR/first aid, Hannah Cundiff in photography, and Chaston Cundiff in welding. Diego Valencia took third in cabinetmaking. Jaylene Reipel also qualified in cabinetmaking.

Bayfield High district champions are Dylan Burress in cabinetmaking, Chad Winkler in architectural drafting and Wyatt Witmer in technical drafting. Winning second place at districts were John Foutz in carpentry and Cordell Ashcraft in architectural drafting. Two BHS teams - Quiz Bowl and video game design - didn't have any district competition and will advance to the state-level contest. Curtis Gillespie is the Skills USA advisor at BHS.
