Local students present, achieve, graduate, receive funds

Area students recently gave presentations, joined honors societies, were named to dean’s lists, graduated and received scholarships:

Lona Nopah of Bayfield, a sociology and human services major, gave a presentation during 12th annual Undergraduate Sociology Conference, held April 13-14 at Western State Colorado University.Erin Massey of Durango, who is pursuing an animal science degree at Oklahoma State University, was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society.Madeline Robertson of Durango, an exercise science and psychology major, was inducted into the Barton College North Carolina Gamma Chapter of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society.David Chris Beach of Durango graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sports and wellness management from Trinity International University.Rebecca Craig of Durango was named to the dean’s list at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin.Tina Davis of Mancos graduated with a master’s degree in science in nursing, which certifies her as a family nurse practitioner, from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.High school seniors Cody Nightingale of Durango High School, Victoria Reeve of Animas High School and Gabriana Creason of Ignacio High School received scholarships from the Southwest Colorado Bar Association for outstanding academic success and community involvement.
