Thanks to the Herald for the story (Herald, June 18) and online video regarding Bob Collette’s efforts to raise money to buy a van for the Disabled American Veterans. The van will be used to transport local veterans to the Veterans Administration hospital in Albuquerque.

The piece highlighted the folly of a donation of marijuana. Indeed, that is amusing, but the real story is that local vets need our help. I encourage everyone to send what you can afford to the Disabled American Veterans at 220 Jenkins Ranch Road, Durango, Co. 81301

Let’s give our local vets the support they deserve.
