The directors of Longmont United Hospital have signed a letter of intent to affiliate with Centura Health, the parent that includes Mercy Regional Medical Center.
Under the agreement, Longmont United would become the 16th hospital operated and managed by Centura Health.
Among factors that brought about the affiliation are the federal budget deficit, the increased cost of Medicare, state Medicaid programs that are unsustainable and the continued transfer of costs to employers and patients, Longmont United said in a release
Longmont United is a full-service, community hospital with speciality areas in cardiology, women’s and children’s services and cancer care.
Centura manages and operates hospitals in Colorado and western Kansas.
