Losing Francisco’s portico unacceptable

We have been reading with some interest letters concerning the portico in front of Francisco’s restaurant. The portico has become a part of Durango culture. Before the portico, the 600 block of Main Avenue was just another street in another small western town. The portico helped Durango become what it is today. Francisco’s, along with the portico, has long been enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

All Durango residents and visitors feel the loss of Francisco’s restaurant. The added loss of the portico would be unacceptable to the majority of Durango residents.

Our vote is to leave it alone!
