Loyd Norman Moore,  77, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014 at  home in Bayfield.  A celebration service with a potluck supper was held at the Billy Goat Saloon in Gem Village on Sunday, August 10, 2014. 

Loyd was born May 14, 1937, in Lawrence County, Tenn., the son of Noley and Annie Moore.   He grew up and attended school in Summer Town, Tenn.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1956 and honorably served his country until his discharge in 1960.  He migrated to California for a few years and it was there that he met his first wife, Margaret.  Loyd moved to Bayfield in 1961. 

 He married Eva Allene in Las Vegas, Nev. in 1973.  They made their home together in Bayfield. He was a self-employed carpenter in La Plata County, working mostly in Bayfield and Vallecito. 

 Loyd enjoyed hunting, billiards, and golf later in life.  He was a well known fixture with his social family at the Billy Goat Saloon.

 He is survived by two brothers and their wives, Carl and Marilyn Moore of Sun City, Ariz. and Paris and Leda Moore of Columbia, Tenn.; a sister, Iva Lou Moore of Columbia, Tenn.; three step-children, numerous nieces and nephews most notably, his niece Alma Evans and her spouse James Bedford of Bayfield who were dedicated caretakers for Loyd.

 He was preceded in death by his wife Eva Allene Moore, his parents, and four siblings.
