Mortensen
La Plata Electric Association recently announced that Ty Mortensen was added to its Durango team as a serviceman.
Servicemen work with customers and electricians, upgrade electrical systems, set meters and are first in the field in the event of an outage.
Mortensen was inspired by his uncle, a lineman for Xcel Energy, and attended Mesa Hotline School in Grand Junction. He was accepted to the LPEA lineman apprenticeship program in 2013 and earned his certification last year.
He is an Eagle Scout, originally from Alamosa and his grandparents owned Lori’s Family Dining locations in Durango.
