LPEA is not a business but a cooperative

Jeff Berman’s opponent for the LPEA board of directors election said LPEA is a business and should be run like a business.

But he’s wrong; LPEA is a cooperative. As such, its purpose is not to maximize the return to shareholders, which is the purpose of a business, but to maximize the benefit to its owners – that’s us.

And what we, the owners, want is not just inexpensive electricity but clean air, untainted water, a vibrant local economy and appropriate action in the face of climate change.

Please elect those candidates who will move LPEA forward by supporting policies encouraging local power generation, reduction of dependence on coal, renewable sources and energy efficiency.

Vote for Jeff Berman in District 3, Alison Dance in District 4 and Bob Lynch in District 1.
