One man was arrested around 6 p.m. Saturday night on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder, but few details were released by the Durango Police Department, which has an active investigation ongoing into the incident.
The assault took place on the Gardenswartz Memorial Bridge on Ninth Street, where the Animas River Trail crosses the river, said Durango Police Department Cpl. Travis Ketelsleger.
Ketelsleger said details and identities of the man arrested and two victims would not yet be provided.
Two victims were involved in the incident, with one of them seriously injured – suffering multiple facial fractures and flown to a hospital in the Denver area, Ketelsleger said.
The second victim was not severely injured, but Ketelsleger was unsure if the second victim was sent to a hospital.
