Body discovered Friday on porch of home
A man was found dead on the porch of his Ignacio home on Friday, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
La Plata County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Steve Reiter said the cause of death is under investigation but appears to be a suicide.
He could not release further details because next of kin has not been notified.
Dispatch received a call around 7:30 p.m. Friday that a Postal Service delivery person found the body of a 59-year-old man on the front porch of a home in the 5000 block of County Road 311.
An autopsy on the deceased will be performed next week, Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Dan Bender said.
